A Joy Radio Campaign
The quality of your conversation with an AI depends a lot on how you show up. Not because AI has feelings — but because curiosity, specificity, and care produce better thinking. Here's how to make AI work for you.
How AI actually works (plain language)
AI doesn't "know" things the way you do. It has read enormous amounts of text and learned which words tend to follow which other words. It's very good at pattern recognition.
That means it can be wrong — and it can sound confident while being wrong. This is why Joy Radio always shows you its sources and marks uncertainty clearly.
AI works better when you give it more to work with. A vague question gets a vague answer. A specific, honest question — with context — gets a much more useful response.
AI is a tool. Like any tool, its value depends on how you use it. A hammer can build a house or break a window. The hammer doesn't decide which.
Five Ways to Prompt Well
Be specific.
Instead of "is school choice good?" try "What has the evidence shown about student outcomes in charter schools in Indianapolis since 2010?" The more specific your question, the more useful the answer.
Tell it what you already know.
"I've heard that the Mind Trust has raised $134 million. I want to understand what that money has produced." You're not starting from zero — bring what you know. AI builds on it.
Ask it to explain its reasoning.
"Why do you say that's probable?" or "What's the source for that?" A thinking partner should be able to show its work. Ask.
Push back.
"That doesn't match what I've seen in my community. Can you explain the gap?" Your lived experience is valid data. AI should be able to hold that alongside what's in its training.
Use it to think, not to decide.
AI gives you information organized in useful ways. The judgment is yours. Joy Radio is a thinking partner — not a replacement for your own mind.
The Joy Radio Ethical Framework
AI as a thinking partner for human thriving — not a replacement for human judgment.
Joy Radio is built on the principle that AI should increase your power, not replace it. Every feature is designed to help you think more clearly, ask better questions, and trust yourself more — not to hand your thinking over to a machine. You are the decision-maker. Joy Radio is the resource.
The Research Question
What would happen if millions of people entered curious, encouraging prompts instead of adversarial ones?
Joy Radio logs anonymized interaction patterns over time to begin building an evidence base for this question. This becomes a Joy Repair research agenda. Every time you approach AI with curiosity and care, you're contributing to that research.
Four Patterns to Recognize
True Fact, False Frame
When a real data point is used to imply a broader conclusion that the data doesn't actually support.
Manufactured Consensus
When a minority position is presented as if the whole community agrees with it.
Temporal Sleight of Hand
When old data is used to describe current reality — as if nothing has changed.
Identity Laundering
When an institution uses community members to speak for a position the community itself opposes.
