About this data
What you are seeing
Each shape is a 2020 census tract, a neighborhood-sized area of roughly 1,200 to 8,000 people. Colors split tracts into five equal groups for the chosen indicator. Click a tract or use the table to read exact values.
How sure are these numbers?
- Census survey (ACS) values are estimates from a sample collected 2020–2024. The “±” margin shows the 90% range. Values marked “low reliability” have a margin larger than about half the estimate.
- CDC PLACES health values are modeled, not measured in the tract. They partly reflect who lives there (age, race, income), so they should not be read as proof of local health differences.
- 2020 Census counts are full counts with no sampling margin.
- Eviction filings are court records. Rates use one renter estimate for every year; tracts with few or uncertain renters have a dashed outline and unstable rates.
What the data do not show
- Why a neighborhood looks the way it does, or what caused a difference.
- Conditions for any individual person, household or block.
- Whether two tracts truly differ when the comparison says “not clearly different”.
- An overall score or ranking of neighborhoods. This Atlas publishes none.
